Charter Organization Announcement

We shared with you in the fall that the Troop needed to find a new charter organization due to The United Methodist Church’s national decision to no longer sponsor BSA. I’m happy to announce that Troop 14 has partnered with First Class Leadership Development as our new charter organization led by the charter organization representative Norman Long. This partnership will allow the Troop to continue to meet and store our equipment at The United Methodist Church of WC. Thank you to Dennis Runyon for the many calls with Council to make this happen!

Good Will & Holiday Cheer

Food Drive

A food drive to benefit the West Chester Area Senior Center
The center started a food distribution program during the Covid shut-down in 2020 and has grown that into a corner cupboard where local seniors can come and ‘shop’ for food at no cost to them. While the center receives contribution from a number of sources they are currently in need of canned soups. It’s an item that the seniors especially enjoy this time of year – especially chunky soups.

When volunteering at the the West Chester Area Senior Center, Maureen Runyon, Scoutmaster Dennis’ wife could see how much the local seniors rely on and appreciate the Corner Cupboard.

Please plan to bring any soup donations to the Scout meeting on Monday, November 21st.

Marshall Square Park Luminaries - West Chester, PA

Marshall Square Park Luminaries
Continuing the holiday tradition, Troop 14 has been asked to assist with setting up luminaries at Marshall Square Park. With the West Chester Christmas parade returning this year, scouts are asked to be at the park after school Friday, December 2nd.

Students attending Henderson HS should walk to the park after school lets out and younger students can be dropped off.

Clean up will then be early Saturday morning starting at 8 AM.

Christmas Wreath Fundraiser 2022

As in years past the troop will raise funds selling Christmas Wreaths & Sprays in the community.

Orders are due Monday, October 31, 2022 – You can submit the spreadsheet you’re using to track orders, a picture of the order form, or just a total of each type of wreath.

Payment for your order will be accepted in cash or checks made out to BSA Troop 14. Suggested method would be for customers to pay scout and parents write one total check for their scout. (This would also make it much easier to collect electronic payments if you choose.)

Orders are expected for delivery the weekend of 11/25-11/27 (right after Thanksgiving).

Welcome to Another Year of Scouting

The Troop will be holding a Family Information Night next Monday October 3 @ 7:30. (During the weekly scout meeting)

Troop Leaders and Committee members will provide information on this year’s scout program including:

  • Annual camping schedule / weekend details
  • Fundraising goals
  • Opportunities to help the Troop
  • Information on open committee positions
  • Answer any questions or concerns you may have

Open Committee Positions
Please let the Committee Chairperson know if you are interested or would like additional information.

Recruitment: The Troop is always hoping to increase membership, which not only helps the troop but also brings in additional families that can potentially help with scout leadership or committee positions. This position develops a plan for year-round membership flow into the troop, works closely with Cubmasters from neighboring Cub Scouts, and helps plan and coordinate troop open houses.

Advancement: We will be in need of a new Advancement Chairman beginning 2023. This position encourages Scouts to advance in rank, maintain all Scout advancement records, and arrange troop boards of review. The current Advancement Chair, will assist you in getting up to speed on using the many programs to track the scouts’ advancements.
